Giant, the world’s leading brand of high-quality bicycles and cycling gear, unveiled the new Stance E+, an ultra-capable E-MTB that’s at home on flowy XC trails, multi-use paths or more technical singletrack—everything one might encounter on a typical off-road adventure.
This full-suspension E-MTB is equipped with the new SyncDrive Pro motor system that’s powered by a long-lasting EnergyPak 800 battery system, purpose-built for E-bikes. Optimal power delivery is paired with Giant’s smooth, active FlexPoint suspension setup and modern trail-riding geometry, giving the Stance E+ a balanced and stable feel, allowing all levels of riders to tackle challenging trails with poised, predictable handling.
CONFIDENT HANDLING
Built around Giant’s single-pivot FlexPoint design, the ALUXX SL aluminum frame uses the flexing elements of the rear chainstay and seatstay, eliminating complex pivots and linkages while still providing an effective, lightweight and durable suspension system that’s easy to maintain. The bike’s 125mm of smooth rear travel is paired with a 140mm suspension fork, progressive geometry and larger diameter 29-inch wheels to deliver a confident, stable ride on technical trails.
The Stance E+ also features a narrow Q-factor for optimized pedaling performance and utilizes integrated cable routing where cables and wires are cleanly tucked away, running below the stem and through the head tube, which protects them from damage and offers a clean and tidy profile. And for those in search of a fun option for bumpy backroad adventures, or even daily commuting on rough roads, gravel and dirt, Stance E+ comes with simple mounting options for fenders, racks, a kickstand and other accessories.
POWERFUL SUPPORT
Optimized to work with Maestro suspension, the new—and lighter—SyncDrive Pro motor (2.5 kg) provides up to 85Nm of torque and a 400 percent support ratio to deliver a dynamic ride experience on all types of terrain. Whether spinning up long, sustained climbs or applying quick bursts of power at low speeds on technical singletrack, riders get instant engagement that feels smooth and natural.
Specifically optimized for the Stance E+, the motor is sonically tuned for smooth, quiet performance and it utilizes Smart Assist, an automatic adaptive support mode system that uses six sensors and advanced algorithms to determine the optimum power support needed based on riding style and terrain. Smart Assist also maximizes efficiency by not using unnecessary energy.
The SyncDrive Pro motor is powered by a long-lasting EnergyPak 800 battery system that features a new 22700 cell type, which vastly outperforms the 21700 and 18650 cells found in most E-bikes. The numbers refer to the physical size of the lithium-ion cells. With increased density, reduced weight, and a higher volume that helps it run cooler, the new 22700 cell is better suited to the demands of high-performance E-bikes. The system uses a total of 40 cells, the same as most E-bike batteries, but these larger cells have greater discharge capacity. They also run cooler, which means less stress on the system and a longer total lifecycle.
Built with a sturdy aluminum casing, the EnergyPak Smart 800 is rated for safety and impact resistance according to the highest test standards in the industry. It’s also a modular system that allows previous generation systems, including the EnergyPak 500 and EnergyPak 625, to be swapped out and upgraded to this new 800Wh system.
The new EnergyPak Smart 800 also marks the launch of Giant’s new CO2 neutral battery production. As part of its commitment to reducing the environmental impact of battery usage and production, Giant has taken a leadership position as the first manufacturer to use E-bike batteries from a CO2 neutral plant.
FULL DATA DISPLAY
The Stance E+ comes stock with a two-in-one RideControl Dash head unit that has integrated handlebar buttons to control support modes plus an integrated color display. Users can check range, battery level and support mode, along with standard cycling data such as speed and distance without having to add another screen to the E-bike. It also has an ANT+ connection for use with a heart rate monitor and other fitness devices. And the RideControl Ergo 2 wirelessly connects with the RideControl App, allowing smartphones to also function as a display for ride data and system updates.
This integrated group of technologies forms the operating system of every Giant E-bike. The user-friendly components—including the motor, control unit and battery pack—function as part of an overarching system that seamlessly combines electric power with human power to produce a smart, natural and powerful ride experience.
